I recently tweaked the recipe for my Hot + Sour sauce, and as a result was left with nearly 150 bottles of surplus stock from a previous batch. I got in touch with The Felix Project who were thankfully able to accept the bottles and redistribute them.
If you don’t know them, The Felix Project is an amazing charity that redistributes surplus food from the food industry, that would otherwise go to waste. It then goes to vulnerable people and those in need, via frontline charities and schools. They did an amazing job over half-term, making sure that children didn’t go hungry.
Food waste, especially from the food industry, is an epic problem and charities like this not only help reduce waste but tackle the issue of food poverty. Please check out their website on how to volunteer or donate, and if they are not in your area, there will be other similar programmes. Fare Share UK is another similar charity, and there are also apps like Olio and Too Good To Go, which both help with food waste 💚
