A special invitation at the Royal Thai Embassy 🇹🇭💛

A special invitation at the Royal Thai Embassy 🇹🇭💛

Last week I was truly honoured to be invited to the Royal Thai Embassy in London to celebrate Thailand’s National Day, Thai Father’s Day, and the birthday anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX).

It was one of those rare, pinch-me evenings, the kind that makes you feel proud of where you come from. Standing between the Thai and British flags, I felt a real sense of gratitude for my Thai + British roots, and for all the food, stories, and traditions that have shaped Woolf’s Kitchen.

A celebration full of culture (and so much warmth)

The evening was beautifully put together, elegant, joyful, and filled with moments that reminded me how powerful food and culture can be in bringing people together. There were wonderful conversations, lots of smiles, and a real sense of community.

I also had the pleasure of meeting some brilliant people (including a very exciting run-in with Miss England, huge congratulations!). And yes… I wore the same dress I wore to this event back in 2019, some traditions are worth keeping. 😉

The food: a dream night for Thai flavours

Of course, as you can imagine, the food was unforgettable.

There was Som Tam,  that perfect Thai balance of spicy, sour, salty, sweet, and the star of the night for me: Khao Soi.

    Som Tam (always a favourite)

    The Khao Soi of dreams

Khao Soi is one of my ultimate comfort dishes: rich, fragrant curry broth, noodles, and all the toppings that make each spoonful feel like a hug. It’s the kind of dish that instantly transports you.

    Thank you

A huge thank you to the Royal Thai Embassy in London for such a special evening. I’m so grateful to have been included, and to celebrate Thailand in a way that felt both meaningful and delicious. 🙏

    A little AI Fun 😉
