Homemade Fresh Ginger Shots

Homemade Fresh Ginger Shots

Perfect for giving an immunity boost now we're in winter. Really simple to make and much cheaper than the shop-bought ones!

I like to whip up a big batch and freeze in smaller portions (3-4 days worth) which means I can have a shot every day.

This recipe makes around 30 portions but feel free to downsize if you don't have the freezer space.

INGREDIENTS

  • Makes approx 30 servings
  • 150g fresh ginger, skin on (if in good condition)
  • 2 eating apples (skin on), 150-200ml water
To serve (for 1):
  • 25 ml apple cider vinegar + 2 tsp water (I love Willy's Apple Cider Vinegar with honey, turmeric & black pepper) and/or 2-3 tbsp of water or apple juice (or to taste)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cut the apple and ginger into small chunks. You can leave the core in the apples.
  2. Place both in a blender with 150ml of water and blend until really smooth. You may need to add the extra water depending on how powerful your blender is.
  3. Place a sieve over a large bowl and pour some of the mixture in. Push through the mixture with a spatula. You will need to work it to ensure you get every last drop of juice out. Scrape the bottom of the sieve as you go.
  4. Repeat until all the ginger and apple mixture has been sieved.
  5. Pour into clean containers (I use small ones which hold a few portions in) and refrigerate or freeze until needed. It will last 3-4 days in the fridge.
  6. One serving is approximately 1 tbsp (you can obviously have more or less according to taste).
  7. To serve: Place 1 tbsp of ginger into a small glass. Add 25ml of good quality raw apple cider vinegar (see above) and top with 10ml (2 tsp) of water. Stir before drinking. Alternatively, combine the ginger with a little apple juice or water and enjoy!
